The Gig

This year we are expanding the Drum Day to bring you the Gig in the evening!

Featuring the genre bending corto.alto this is a special one-off hometown gig. Liam Shortall creator of the project corto.alto is originally from Dumfries. He moved to Glasgow to study at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland and in the COVID lockdown of 2020 started corto.alto. The project has been nominated for the Mercury Prize award in 2024 and the band played Glastonbury in the Summer of 2025. We are extremely privileged to bring them to you as part of Dumfries Drum Day. Graham Costello will be performing on the Drum Day Main Stage and you also get the chance to see him perform with his band the same day!

support from The Meanies

Supporting corto.alto was local Dumfries band The Meanies. This also ties in to the Drum Day as the band’s drummer Fergus Henderson is an alumnus artist of Dumfries Drum Day having performed on the Main Stage in 2024.

corto.alto

For 2025 we were excited to bring you none other than corto.alto! Following the band’s recent success we were fortunate to have them come to Dumfries. Liam Shortall of corto.alto hails from Dumfries, and with the band’s drummer Graham Costello also performing at the Drum Day this is the glue that ties the events together.

This is the band’s first hometown Dumfries gig and it was an explosive night!
